「Toho Zinc」was established in 1937 under the name of「Japan Zinc Smelting Co., Ltd.(日本亜鉛製錬株式会社)」. This company has been providing integrated services from mine development to metal refining. In 1939, they purchased「Japan Zinc Co., Ltd.,(日本亜鉛株式会社)」and changed the company name to the current one. From the 1950s, this company started refining crude lead, smelting electric lead and electrolytic iron business.

Since 1969,「Toho Zinc」have started mining development in Peru and Iran, and since 1990 they have established production and material procurement bases in Hong Kong and Shanghai. At the same time, this company started a nickel-cadmium battery recycling business.
