「Inpex」 conducts the exploration and development of oil and natural gas. Each of the projects that they deal with is a very large global project which can contirubte industries of Japan. By procuring the source of energy,  this company is in charge of a very important roles to the country. Nevertheless, the listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange has been approved.

However, the largest shareholder of this company is the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. In other words, it is a similar position to「Japan Tobacco Inc(日本たばこ産業)」which operates a business with partial privatization status. 

Nowadays, 「Inpex」 is a global company and it operates with about 70 projects in 20 countries worldwide. They are the first Japanese company to who initiated a large LNG project in Australia, which is called the "Ichthys LNG Project". The total investment of this project is several trillion JPY. The construction was already completed and gas production began in July 2018. 

Besides they also participated in the "Abu Dhabi ADCO oil field" tender and concluded a concession agreement with a 40-year contract period from January 1, 2015. The Abu Dhabi oil field is said to be the world's largest oil field, consisting of 12 production oil fields and three undeveloped oil fields on land.

On the other hand, in Japan, 「Inpex」have one of Japan's largest Minami-Nagaoka gas fields and supply gas to their customers with a approximately 1,500 km of gas pipeline. This company have many experiencesin the oil and natural gas development business, and now they are also working on the field of renewable energy, such as developing geothermal power generation business in Japan and overseas.
