They have offline large-scale stores all over Japan, and are also developing "Yodobashi.com", which is online shopping site and "Yodobashi Telephone Shopping" for telephone shopping. As a consumer electronics mass retailer, this company has 4th largest sales after「Yamada Denki(ヤマダ電機)」,「Bic Camera Inc.(ビックカメラ)」and「EDION Corporation(エディオン)」. As its name indicates,「Yodobashi Camera」has mainly dealt with cameras and photography-related products, since its establishment in 1960. At that time, their stores mainly located in small building near to transportation terminals with cosideration of accessibility. At the time of its founding, camera was a luxury item that cost more than hundreds of thousands of yen.「Yodobashi Camera」allowed price comparison of various products on the spot, and eventully become popular.


After that, they greatly expanded product lineup including home appliances, personal computers, audio-visual products, toys, and magazines, and at the same time, they relocated their stores, in order to expand sales floor area. However, unlike other major electronics retailers who actively conducted M & A,「Yodobashi Camera」 has  management policy to secure stable profits. Therefore, while this company is operating 23 super large stores in Japan, but all the related lands are also owned by them. In addition, they introduced the point system under the name "Gold Point" for the first time as a Japanese electronics retail store.

At first glance,「Yodobashi Camera」seems like focusing on an offline store, because they are operating large scaled stores near to city center. but they also invested online shopping. In particular, they have a delivery system called "Yodobashi Extreme" against "Amazon Prime". Unlike "Amazon", which outsorce delivery service to external  company,「Yodobashi Camera」conducts delivery by their own, and this is to improve company-wide efficiency

「Bic Camera」is often compared with the「Yodobashi Camera」. In the case of「Bic Camera」, their sales floor is organized with various products such as futons, alcoholic beverages, bicycles, and golf equipment, beyond the scope of home appliances. However,「Yodobashi Camera」has some maniac items such as sewing machines, high-end audio equipment, etc. And they tend to keep their sales floor layout without change. Most of all, 「Yodobashi camera」has relatively higher rate of own store compared to「Bic Camera」.
