The company name "Keisei(京成)" comes from the fact that the company's route network connects "Tokyo(東京)" and "Narita(成田)". On May 28, 1907,「Keisei Denki Kidō(京成電気軌道)」was established on June 30, 1909, with the permission of the "Oshiage-Narita" / "Sakuramachi Miyakoji ~ Sakura station" route. At the time of its establishment, this company had a hard time recruiting shareholders due to the economic recession immediately following the Russo-Japanese War.

 

During the World WarⅡ, the electric light and power supply business was transferred to「Kanto Electric Power Co., Inc.(関東配電株式会社)」. And their underground tunnel in Ueno Park was nominated as evacuation facilities by the government. On June 25, 1945, right before end of the war, this company name was changed to the current「Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd.」
